Our Values
History
Philosophy
I have been in practice for more than 30 years now, and in that time, I have always been interested in a client’s business and their personal and families goals. Clients have become a part of my family, and after all these years with me, they see me as part of their family.
There is no greater satisfaction in being in business than dealing with people that you admire and respect.
I have always had a steadfast philosophy to building and retaining clients – treat everyone as you would want to be treated, with respect, with care, and with a genuine interest in their business, their families, and themselves.
Approach
We take a genuine interest in our clients. We pride ourselves on close and open working relationships with our clients.
As we act exclusively for private family businesses, their owners, and families, we understand their needs and the challenges they face.
Our approach is simple….. we listen, we ask, we consider options available, we explain and then agree on a course of action that provides the best possible solution to issues that arise.
To our clients, and to us, excellent service means being enterprising, dependable, proactive and personable.
We go beyond compliance and strive to make a real contribution and difference to our clients’ businesses and personal affairs.
We like our clients and we want them to leave happy. Each client is important and if they have a problem that needs solving, we are there to help them fix it.

How We Work
As we act exclusively for private family businesses, their owners and their families, we manage our clients complete personal, business, taxation and financial affairs.
We understand that our clients require a lot more than just having their tax and compliance matters attended to, and that is where we add value.
We do not sell or recommend any financial products. We do not act as finance brokers and we do not receive commissions or any other underlying benefits by you accepting our advice.
We have noticed a trend that many accounting firms are now more involved in financial planning and finance broking, purely to benefit themselves and not the client.
We review our clients business and personal loans and costs that are in place, and we deal directly with their Bank or other Institution to negotiate better terms, with any costs savings being passing directly on to the client.
New clients of KBSG often ask how we can do what seemed difficult for their previous accountants and advisors. We can do this because we have developed structured processes that allow for consistent and excellent service delivery and outcomes.
The development and continued enhancements to our processes is indicative of the care we take for our clients:
Inquiry received from prospective client, in most cases referred by an existing client.
Brief discussion with the prospective client takes place, to get an overview of the clients profile and requirements.
Meeting time arranged and list of financial and other records that should be provided at the initial face-to-face meeting is provided.
The initial face-to-face meeting takes place, where we listen, discuss, and review the information and records that have been provided.
At this initial meeting, based on the questions we ask, and our review of the information provided, we usually have a good understanding of the overall financial affairs of the prospective client.
We discuss their needs, the reasons for looking to change advisors, what value and level of service we are genuinely capable of offering and our terms.
On some occasions, we decline the opportunity to proceed any further, as we may not be able to meet the expectations and requirements of the client, or we are not able to add value, we are honest and upfront about this.
In other instances, we do not take on clients that we believe will not themselves be willing, or motivated to take an active interest in their affairs.
We strongly believe that for a client/advisor relationship to succeed it requires a high level of commitment and dedication from each party.
Once it is agreed that KBSG will be appointed as the new Advisor, a service proposal and engagement letter is prepared and signed. This satisfies our professional obligations required by CPA Australia.
The current advisors are contacted and notified of our appointment and arrangements are made to collect all financial records, corporate registers and other records as applicable.
On receipt of all records, we conduct a thorough review, using our structured processes to ensure we do not miss anything.
We meet with the client and provide them with our initial findings as to their financial affairs and initial actions required. We also discuss areas that can be improved upon to minimise costs, such as adopting new and alternative accounting software, systems, and procedures.
Once we have a thorough understanding of a clients unique circumstances we carefully ensure all areas of a client’s life is reviewed and organised to maximise wealth. This is done by aligning business and taxation strategies with investments and estate planning strategies.
